Uh oh...

Hey everyone, Heather (the human) here!

Just wanted to share some pics of my first custom reroot
who will be a Christie alter-ego:

Now that Christie knows I can create
custom looks for her...
she's never going to leave me alone...

Christie: That's right, I want more hair and makeup styles!!! Yay!

  1. That looks nice. Did it take a long time to do and is it difficult.

    1. Hi! It took about a day... a full day, of work. The part that takes the longest for me is tying all of the plugs of hair, it's tedious work, but I was given good advice by Cat Hammond to get it all done at once so you can kind of get into a groove, and she's totally right. Once you get into a rhythm, it goes much faster.

The rooting process can be tough on your hands, so that can be a little difficult. Styling the hair is nerve-wracking too (admittedly, I still haven't trimmed the back of her hair yet). I also had to rework the part the first time, because I made it too sparse -_-

As for the painting, it's easier if you have a steady hand and are willing to take your time with it... I've been painting doll faces for a few years now, so I find it easy, although I know I'm nowhere near the best in this field. I still have lots of room for improvement. :)

So, a little difficult, but not at all impossible if you're willing to practice and keep at it!

    1. Thank you! I enhanced her existing faceup... I really liked her eye color (aqua and purple) and shape, so I didn't redo those... I just repainted her eyebrows and lips, gave her more blush and made her pupils more even (one was a lot smaller than the other -_- ) Oh, I also darkened the black eyeliner around her eye... it had faded through the years.

    2. Sidney Bristow, the protagonist of the tv show "ALIAS". She had different identities in every episode

  4. Bad move, Heather. You do realise that now that Christie knows, it won't be long before Nikki knows and Alex and Lexie - and they will all be wanting new custom looks.

    1. Yes, I know ;_;

I will be a slave to them, forced to do their bidding, subject to their every whim...

      ...

... wait, how is that different from now? Hahaha! I'd better build up some "reroot" calluses on my hands, LOL.

  5. I have a question about your doll necklaces. Do they have a catch at the back or do you have to remove the head to hang them?

    1. They have a little handmade hook catch that can be bent open or closed. :) No head removal required at all to put these guys on or take them off.

    2. Cool. By necklaces also have a tension based loop in loop. Great work.

    3. Yeah, my friend and I have found that it's always best to assume people aren't willing to remove the heads of their dolls, especially when it comes to things like Barbie where it can be difficult. XD

  6. That's a great hair colour, you've done a brilliant job, so tidy round the parting. Are you using a knot method, rather than a rooting tool? I need to try this!

    1. Thanks! Yup, I'm using the knot method, it seems to be working really well :)
